Why “Root to Leaf”?

We believe that your “health profile” doesn’t just start the day you were born, but the day your mother was born, and beyond! Did you know that how your grandparents ate could actually have affected your weight and nutritional status at birth? That’s why we believe in addressing your health at every stage of your life, from root to leaf, to help you, and future generations, become the best version of yourselves.

Who is a registered dietitian? 

A registered dietitian...

• Has a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in nutrition and/or a Master’s degree in nutrition

• Completed at least 1200 hours of supervised dietetic practice

• Passed the exam from the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR)

• Has been officially awarded the credentials of RD (Registered Dietitian) or RDN (Registered Dietitian Nutritionist) by the CDR

Is Root to Leaf’s owner a dietitian?

She sure is!

But my neighbor says he’s a nutritionist and can help me lose weight for free. Why can’t I just go to him instead?

You can… but you won’t have the guarantee that he has received the proper training to provide quality, evidence-based nutrition counseling. Anybody, even Bob next door, can call themselves a nutritionist - it is not a legally protected profession. Only an individual who has met the above criteria can legally call themselves a registered dietitian, and that gives you the guarantee that they have received the proper education and professional experience to provide you the best quality care possible.

You can do my appointment in person OR online? How does that work?

I understand that not all of my clients live in the Northern Colorado area, and I want to make sure I reach as many of you as I can! We can do your appointment however is most convenient to you. Even if you live locally, I am still happy to "meet" with you virtually. This can be via e-mail, phone call, or HIPAA-compliant live chat or live video. No extra charge no matter how you wish to do your appointment. I do want to note that I am not licensed to provide virtual sessions in every state, so please feel free to contact me to find out if you're eligible in your state.

Do you accept health insurance?

While we do not directly bill insurance companies, we are more than happy to provide you with a Superbill (an itemized form that shows what services you received from us) so that you may file a claim with your insurance company for reimbursement. Payment to Root to Leaf is still due at time of service, and you are responsible for inquiring about your plan benefits.
